Slayer and Megadeth To Play Thrash Metal Classics On Carnage Tour
One of the most anticipated summer music tours just got heavier. The American Carnage tour will feature three classic thrash metal icons in Megadeth, Slayer, and Testament. Slayer and Megadeth will play classic albums in full making this the must-see heavy metal tour of the year.
Megadeth will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Rust in Peace by playing the entire album in its entirety. I saw Megadeth several times on the original Rust in Peace tour and seeing this album played live again is something I don’t intend to pass up. Original bassist Dave Ellefson is back in the band so you will get two of the original four from the album on the tour. While it would be nice to have Marty Friedman back in the lineup, Chris Broderick is more than capable of handling the lead.
Slayer will also play an entire set from one of their classic albums. Slayer will play Seasons in the Abyss in its entirety. Once again, I caught Slayer several times during the original Seasons in the Abyss tour. I don’t recall the entire album played, so there will be some songs played for the first time by Slayer. Slayer played the entire Reign in Blood album live a few years back. I was hoping they would do the same with South of Heaven, but instead have skipped to Seasons in the Abyss.
Testament will finish out the classic thrash metal fest. There is no word yet on whether Testament will play any of their albums in full. Testament did play The Legacy and The New Order in full on their last full tour. The difference was Testament was headlining which gave them more time. It would be a thrash metal fan’s dream to hear full music from Rust in Peace, Seasons in the Abyss, and either The Legacy or The New Order all in the same night.
